I decided to do a little exploring the other morning, so I hopped on the bus to King Khalid Street with a friend, and spent a good 2 1/2 hours walking into random stores!
I stopped by some of my favorites to see what I may have missed during my past shopping trips with an impatient husband. I visited Island of Carpets first and fell in love with this beautiful Afghani rug. It was priced at around SR 2800, but I needed to think about it before purchasing it for my living room since the colors are quite vibrant.
I then introduced one of my friends to a kitchen store that my mom used to shop at when there was nothing else in Khobar! I think it’s called Badreig and is off of King Saud Street. While some of the items are dated, they carry a lot of kitchenware and some of it seems to be of great quality! I bought a Tramontina pot for around SR 200 when I first moved to Dhahran and I pretty much use that pot for everything.
I then visited Royal Kashmir, a great store for people who are looking for gifts and unique home accessories! It’s not cheap, but their prices are quite reasonable, and they have a nice variety of items that screaaaammmm ethnic. I think what I most enjoyed though was chatting with the staff – they’re incredibly nice, friendly and helpful. One of the staff members was nice enough to walk me over to the other store location that carries larger furniture items. I had my eye on a couple of the dressers, but maybe next time!
My last two stops were the Port Stores, to check out some home accessories, and The Silver Museum for some fabulous silver jewelry. Both are off King Khalid Street and are a must-see if you’re in the area!
Here are some of the beautiful things I bought on this shopping trip…
The napkin rings were from Royal Kashmir and the candleholder and the placemats from the Port Stores. With the 25% off sale at the Port Stores, the prices were quite reasonable – so I picked up these beauties with no regrets!
